A Touch of Whimsy Scarf pattern is found "here" on Ravelry.

An ICord cast on tutorial is here.

A note about Annie Modesitt's slip stitch edging; this slip stitch edging is available online in free patterns by Ms. Modesitt. I also emailed her and asked if it were okay with her if I used this edging in my pattern and she said, "Of course, I don't own the stitches." She is my knitting guru, ain't no doubt!

HAPPY KNITTING and GOD BLESS!!

"Repeat pattern until you have reached desired length, finishing with row 12 of pattern.
End with Row 1"

Just wanted to check before I try this. Do I end with a row 12 and then go on and do another row 1? I really want to try the I Cord CO and BO's. Thanks for posting such an interesting pattern.

Hi Sue H!
Yes, you do just as you said!
Thanks for your interest in the design, I'm very honored!!

There weren't enough stitches to finish row 2! When you say cable 4, do I slip 4 onto cable needle, then knit 4, then knit the 4 on cable needle?

Becka said...

Hi Debbie! I believe we emailed, yes?
In cable 4 (cb4 or cf4) you slip 2 sts onto the cable needle, knit 2 sts from knitting needle then knit the 2 sts from the cable needle - then you have cabled 4 sts. Hope this was helpful!

Lovely scarf! I'm trying to knit it now but I notice that my holes are not as pronounced as the picture. Is there something I can do to help it allong?

how do i get the pattern?

I just finished this scarf and I loved knitting it. 2 or 3 new techniques I have never done. I have one question though, my scarf does not lay flat. The central pattern kind of puckers and the scarf wants to fold in half. Did you block your scarf? Do you have any pointers for me. Thanks so much for the patterns. God Bless.

How incredibly refreshing to not only find an awesome blog with really cool FREE patterns, but it's owned by a fellow sister in Christ! I just picked up my knitting again after about 2 years (blending a family of 4 kids with a new baby making 5 doesn't leave much time for anything else!), and I'm on the prowl for some new projects. Thank you so very much for sharing your talent and your faith...you are both an inspiration and an encouragement! May God continue to bless you!

Hello Friends,
I am very, very sorry that I didn't see your posts sooner, please, please email me in the future with questions...my email is on the sidebar.

Thank you so very much, Rachel, both for your kind words about the scarf and especially about my faith, which means so much, as you know!

Hi Elaine, perhaps blocking will enlarge the holes or using a larger needle.

Anonymous #1, click on the word "here" in the sentence that reads A Touch of Whimsy Scarf pattern is found "here" in pdf format for the pattern.

Anonymous #2, yes, blocking works wonders on virtually all knitting :-)

Rae, thank you, too, for your very kind words about the blog, patterns and my faith! I do so love hearing from sisters (and brothers) in Christ! As well as all of my fellow knitters :-) Congrats on the new baby and picking up your knitting after a few years, I know it missed you!

God bless you all!
Becka

Hi fellow knitters!
Thank you all for your interest, I'm honored :-)
Katty, thank you so much, I feel the same way, knitting "calms" the soul, so to speak! My goodness, it's helped me a LOT! I'm disabled & live in constant pain & knitting is the only thing that helps to keep my mind off of my pain; as a matter of fact, I taught myself to knit hoping that it would do just that...and it does, thank God!
ms, you are absolutely correct, wyif means "with yarn in front," you slip the stitch while holding the working yarn in front of your work.
Cilais, you are most welcome! I LOVE to share my designs with my fellow knitters. The knitting community is a great group of people & knowing that fellow knitters enjoy one of my designs makes sharing absolutely worthwhile and a lot of fun!
Heather, I'm sending you another email.
Anonymous, I'm so happy that you like the design!
I hope that you all have a blessed 2011 holiday season!!

I am really new to knitting and am struggling through the whimsical scarf pattern. I give the scarves I finish to a prayer shawl ministry. I really like this pattern and if I can get the cast on learned will make it. Do you think I could simply double or triple the cast on to make it wider? some patterns don't work that way.
Also, I respect ones copyright and would not violate it.
which begs the question if I want to try to sell some scarves to fund the prayer shawls where would I find patterns???? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Shirley. You can reach me at cajun0@live.com.
